So what you are saying is that organic farming is dangerous and that nuclear power plant meltdowns and million gallon oil spills are not.

Okay, good. Got it.

No, that is not at all what was said. Way to take it to the extreme though.

So what is the take home message?

That bean sprouts kill, but oil spills and nuke meltdowns are just something blown way out of proportion by the lame stream media?

You have reacted to a quote that has no context to it and have allowed your political leanings to fill in the gap.

After a little digging, I found the origin of the "quote" HERE. It is a comment from some random user on a blog about how organic farming is a crock of shit(literally) and rather than produce healthy good for you food it often produces e. coli infected vegetables which get a lot of people sick. The quote seems to be an attempt to put some perspective on the problem. There is no suggestion that oil spills and nuke meltdowns are lessor problems.

I guess I took the words killed twice as many people as a comparison.

Sorry, it is just me and my loopy point of view.

Mr. Gramps is right in his FF directed debate technique. When you have no argument against the topic at hand, attack another reletetd subject to get the opponent flustered and off topic so the original topic is lost in the wash. It is the same way in boxing, war and other sports, you try to keep the opponent off kilter so they forget their prepared attack plans and then have to begin a defense of something they were not prepared for. It is best, as done in presidential debates, to pick one word or phrase from a curveball question, that somehow passed through the screening of pre approved and prepared for questions, and use that word or phrase to swing your response to a topic you have prepared for. A plus (the plus symbol won't stay when I save the note) to Mr. Gramps on an excellent use of this college level debate technique.

All you guys who are experts in detecting bias need to read the 'quote of the week' again.

Then tell me that the quote doesn't favorably compare the nuclear power plant meltdown and the Gulf Oil Spill with organic farming.

It says; "One German organic farm has killed twice as many people as the Fukushima nuclear disaster and the Gulf Oil spill combined."

What is ironic here is that my pointing out the outrageously biased comparison here is perceived as bias on MY part. Oh yeah, I read the words exactly as they were written. How incredibly biased of me.

It doesn't make favor of any of them. All three are problems. The quote simply uses the latter examples to show that the first is a big deal too. It doesn't say it is worse. You make that assumption.

Okay, you win. The thing that "Killed twice as many people" isn't necessarily any worse than the things you are comparing it to.

See, I feel better already, freeing myself of the bias of what words mean.
