Hmmm... I don't think these are bad pros for Reaganomics even considering the cons. The spending for defense and congress did not help the economy overall. But the result of ending the cold war helped in the long run...

"Inflation averaged 12.5 percent when Reagan entered office, was reduced to 4.4 percent when he left."

"Interest rates fell six points."

"Eight million new jobs were created as unemployment fell."

"An eight percent growth in private wealth."

"The average annual growth rate of real gross domestic product (GDP) from 1981 to 1989 was 3.2 percent per year, compared with 2.8 percent from 1974 to 1981 and 2.1 percent from 1989 to 1995. The 3.2 percent growth rate for the Reagan years includes the recession of the early 1980s, which was a side effect of reversing Carter's high-inflation policies, and the seven expansion years, 1983-89. During the economic expansion alone, the economy grew by a robust annual rate of 3.8 percent. By the end of the Reagan years, the American economy was almost one-third larger than it was when they began."

"When Reagan took office in 1981, the unemployment rate was 7.6 percent. In the recession of 1981-82, that rate peaked at 9.7 percent, but it fell continuously for the next seven years. When Reagan left office, the unemployment rate was 5.5 percent.

I don't agree totally with that! To see what your life would be like without a government, you just have to look at a bunch of places on the African continent! I don't think I'd want to live in a place where mob rule and war lords are the order of the day! Government takes on the jobs that are too big for the individual citizens to handle! You can't fix freeways by having the farmers that adjoin it get out their shovels and wheel barrows any more!

Government just needs to be severely restricted in what they can do. Our founding fathers had the right idea, but people have been too lazy to tell them to @##@# off and vote the bums out.

Well with the Republicans in the Senate having just enough to Filibuster everything that comes through, and the Democrats not actually making them do it in real life! What you see is what you get! Nothing gets by that isn't watered down or poisoned!

I'm looking forward to seeing how the movie portrays Enron.
