Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that Bush had been out of the White House for over 2 years when the accident happened.
But it seems no body had noticed that all his fun loving people were still in place at the agency that was"Supposed" to keep track of the oil industry! They just continued to do business like they had for the previous 8 years!
Z3 makes a good point here. Obama has the responsibility to rein in this lackadaisical culture of enforcement of regulation of highly dangerous projects like deep water drilling.
Just because the Bushies didn't care about the consequences of these activities doesn't excuse Obama for doing the same on his watch.
Nearly two years in, this is on Obama at this point.
Do you have any idea how many Federal Employees there are?? Do you know how much hell would be created if everyone that got their jobs during the Bush Administration was replaced with Democratic appointees overnight! Even then I'll bet a lot of them where Civil Service jobs and damned hard to get rid of without a REAL good reason!
So you are basically saying there are too many federal jobs and that we should make it easier to fire federal employees. Welcome to the tea party movement lamparty!
Just saying you would have to create a whole nuther bureaucracy to be able to weed out all the incompetents in the present one in a timely fashion, instead of letting them uncover themselves through their own actions, like this batch of scr*wups did!
Gramps
I don't wish any harm to BP, I certainly don't want them to go belly up, but I would appreciate it if they were more careful with the lives of their people and with the environment we all have to live in. Would it be too much trouble for them to make sure their safety equipment is installed correctly, and is working properly?
Would it be too much government interference if we checked up on that from time to time?
