Sounds like Christianity which teaches peace and love, but is responsible for the Crusades, rampant child molestation, and our current wars designed to bring freedom and peace to the world through killing and destruction.
The problem is that all religious books are not consistent because they were all written by fickle humans that change their opinions over time or were written and edited by a great many people. And for the Quaran in particular there are very moderate verses and some very terrible verses. And there are some that follow some of them and others that follow the others while using some type of confusing logic to reconcile the differences.
The bottom line is that Muslims are not terrorists though. However, all religions are dangerous because they provide excuses for extremism.
However, all religions are dangerous because they provide excuses for extremism.
I have no use for religion, but statements like that always bother me. The danger is part of human nature. Great evil has been done in the name of many secular beliefs as well. Like socialism, communism, capitalism. Atheism stands on a pretty tall pile of corpses itself.
Primarily because people as a whole are people. AS a group, we have a lot of mean nastiness in us.
I did not say there are not problems other than religion. But religion provides an easy excuse for a vile act. If your "good" book says that non-believers should be killed then it's an absolute that will lead you to murder (if you follow it properly). The trump card they use is that "God demands it".
There are many that choose to ignore most of their religions, but that should not excuse the religions themselves. It gives radicals a reason behind their insane acts that otherwise would have been categorized as simple acts of aggression. But since they are in a religious context even the moderates excuse them from their heinous crimes since they can see "where they are coming from" even if they "personally disagree with it".
Other ideologies exist that are harmful, but at least they're not claimed to be written by gods or creators. And do not mix up brutal dictators with ideologies because they are not one and the same.
Socialism does not demand murder. Communism does not demand murder. Capitalism does not demand murder. Fascism does not demand murder. Atheism does not demand murder. But many religions do demand murder or have records of demanding it in the past.
And even without murder religions lead you demand that you perform acts of devotion/worship that have no rational reason and often are detrimental out of the context they evolved within.
People should think about their actions and yet religion allows you to perform acts in good conscience that are often harmful to others. It allows you to hate others without a good reason whether those targeted are gay, dark skinned, women, etc.
You can be bothered by these statements but you are an enabler then because religion is dangerous. We should be wary of anyone or anything that demands our complete allegiance without thought and based only on belief.
Okay let's run the numbers for communist/socialist/fascist groups:
* 65 million in the People's Republic of China
* 20 million in the Soviet Union[3]
* 2 million in Cambodia
* 2 million in North Korea
* 1.7 million in Africa
* 1.5 million in Afghanistan
* 1 million in the Communist states of Eastern Europe
* 1 million in Vietnam[4]
* 150,000 in Latin America
* 10,000 deaths "resulting from actions of the international Communist movement and Communist parties not in power.
The list is missing Nazism, which is a tweak of Communism with a dose of Fascism due to the Germans did not desire to puppets of Russia. They killed roughly 20 million people (Russians did lump some of their kills with the Germans from what I have read a while back).
Extremist Islam was tied to Nazism, since they had similar goals of wiping the Jews off the planet. Current groups still follow that path right still. They work on a smaller scale but for longer period of time, but I bet they have killed over 100,000 since the 20's.
I doubt that religion (other than Islam) is truly dangerous due to it's general nature, but socialism/communism/etc have been proven to the deadliness of the structures for many centuries.... Wait until the Islamic armies attacked almost everyone and took over nations by conversion by the sword. Too bad the Crusades did not completely cripple the perverted corrupt Islamic religion and we would all be better off not worrying about morons strapping bombs or flying planes into buildings.
You seemed to have ignored my post and most of what you posted was emotional propaganda. I'll explain the errors you have made though.
Socialism is the belief that a *small* (key word) governing body of people can work to avoid the tyranny of most overlords, but still have a class division because of the separation of the rulers and those they rule. There is no murder in this system. Think of the Mennonites (like the Amish) when thinking of a socialist society.
Communism is the ideology that no government but rather the equal cooperation of the citizens can avoid the tyranny of overlords. There is no class distinction in this system. This is also no murder in this system.
And it is important to note that I support neither socialism or communism. And not because I think they're evil ideals but rather I believe it is counter to human nature. It excludes the nature of competition and even if you were able to reach a society of that level it leaves you vulnerable to warrior neighbors and nature since scientific inquiry is stunted.
Fascism is an authoritarian government based on nationalism and deeply entrenched corporatism. There is no need for a fascist government to be racist or murderous either, however national identities can be dangerous since the underlying belief is that one nation of people is better than another. While this can be separated by racial lines it does not have to be.
It is important to note that the definitions of these terms are often heavily abused and misused. This was done for political purposes to taint the meanings in exactly the same way you wish to use them, which is incorrect.
For example, China was never communist. Instead it was heavily fascist with underlying socialist idealism. Mao did believe in socialism and did believe in communism, but what he implemented was neither.
The Soviet Union was also never communist or socialist. Stalin was a brutal dictator of fascism that used the concept of communism to maintain his power.
Like all of these terms though they are not bad in themselves. Socialism as defined by Marx was supposed to be caused by a revolution of the people following abuses from capitalism. And likewise communism from socialism due to abuses.
But these revolutions do not necessarily need to be bloody and does not demand murder and once the society has been formed they are non-violent. This is in contrast to many religions that demand the death of heathens or murder of sinners.
So let me repeat that again. 65 million people were not killed by socialism or communism. 20 million people in the Soviet Union were not killed by socialism or communism. Those people were killed by either civil wars or dictators. However, many millions (if not billions) of people have been killed in the name of gods.
Nazism is just fascism with the racism clearly defined. It should be noted that Germany was Catholic, Hitler was raised Catholic and while Hitler did not agree with (corrupt) organized religion he realized the power he held by using it and it does appear he believed in a higher power that hated sub-humans (Jews, Blacks, etc.).
All religions based off Judaism are racist. Jews were the only ones special in the Old Testament and God commanded repeatedly for them to kill neighboring tribes, rape and enslave their women and various other terrible atrocities. The rights of many were limited (women) and many others were killed for being different (gays).
You single out Islam but Christianity is not much better. And it should be noted that the only reason it is better is that it mixed with Roman/Greek mythology to dilute the radical Judaism. And the worst religions in the world have been tied to desert religions. Deserts form the most unpleasant religions, whereas plentiful areas bring a plethora of Gods that give people things (although they are often fairly petty too).
All religions are dangerous. They ask for you to believe in something based on nothing. This means you're often expected to believe in non-sense just because you were told to believe. Religion is taught through indoctrination of the young, which is simply brain washing. Being taught harmful ideas from birth is damaging. It creates war and hatred, and while these are not exclusive to religion they are historically the largest sources (excuses).
I am not saying people are bad for following religion. I am not saying there religion is without merit. But they are dangerous. However, I don't believe religion should be banned or anything like that. I believe it's your right to believe in non-sense - even if some of the core values are sick.
If all Muslims are terrorists does that make all Catholics pedophiles?

Or all Southern Baptists gay?
Just the good ones.
Are you suggesting the women of MV aren't 'good ones'?

Ain't never got no sammich from the MV chickens.
There are over a billion Muslims in the world and no where near that many terrorists.
A person who generalizes about what a billion people are like is a fool.
Is fool a strong enough word?

Ummm. I call BS on the information as presented, since the "moderates" still love killing their own kin over so-called honor and those who leave the religion.
