Scary how Obama's goons have suppressed all news and information on this raid except for interviews with Gibson's CEO and the blogs and articles reporting on said interviews. With all that power, couldn't they just suppress those as well?

It has been in non-blog news outlets. The DOJ has been asked for comment but has refused.

To be fair, many of the articles omit that other guitar makers have been hassled in the past. However, I don't think anyone has had assets seized in these quantities. It also wouldn't surprise me if this was related to smartwood certification and trying to rely on that for anything. Getting smartwood label is about as honest a process as iso 9000 certification in IT.

The DOJ has been doing a pretty good job of suppressing news about Fast and Furious I think.

I'd like to know what the story is, I play the guitar - I have a Fender telecaster and a cheapo Yamaha acoustic and a cheapo Gibson acoustic .. I had an Ovation for awhile until someone stole it and my wife has a Guild acoustic. My sister has a really nice, old Martin - made out of Rosewood.

Apparetnly Federal agents raided the Gibson Guitar Corporation in Nashville in 2009 and confiscated a bunch of material and computers .. no charges were filed from that raid.

Gibson Guitars CEO: U.S. Government Urged Him to Use Foreign Labor

Juszkiewicz explained that Gibson had been hiring, despite the economic downturn.
We employ approaching 2,000 people here in the United States, and we have hired just in the last two years something like 580 new employees in the United States, he said ...

As one commenter pointed out ... Gibson is not a labor shop. Yet Martin guitars, which uses the exact same kind of wood parts for their guitars as Gibson, and from the same regions (India, Madagascar, etc), got a pass. Martin is unionized. Is this the reason Gibson was raided (twice) and Martin wasn't ... the govt has not answered any questions.

The agency that conducted the raid on Gibson was The Fish And Wildlife Service .. can you strum a fish??? you can tune a piano but you can't tuna fish.

Martin Guitar is having some problems because Chinese Company Creates Counterfeit Martin Guitars
