Actually I haven't heard anyone, except you, call for windfall profits taxes as a remedy for the currently high gas prices.
Perhaps there should be a Windbag tax instead. 
maybe if the obama gets out of the way of the pipe line, drilling, and anything that might bring energy from our own shores to prevent depending on overseas sources....

First we deem reasonable profits on petrol.. and then every other product and service to outlaw the law of supply and demand that art majors never heard of.

Time again for the windfall profits tax exclusively on petrol products in order to further discourage western petrol production and encourage dependence on ARAB OIL. If the Islam was a big supplier of real estate, precious metals or stocks we would windfall profit tax that too in order to discourage western production.
