It's 640 Light Years away, so did it blow up 639.9 years ago or is blowing up now and won't be visible for 640 more years?

Sorry, tc. The guy did say it was poosible that it could hsppen tomorrow (or a hundre yearsfrom now). So keep looking up. I think it will be a cool thing to observe, when it does go supernova.

Funny, but I had a dream about the event last night, after reading the article. The cold light of day, and a quick google check dispelled those imaginings, though.

Btw, isn't there a probabilty formula that guestimates the number of intelligent civilizations per cubic area? If so, then I wonder what the average number would be within the hazard zone?
